Bull Shark

From mid-November to the end of February, female Bull Sharks, many of them pregnant, arrive at the reefs in front of Playa del Carmen.

The annual occurrence of this phenomenon presents a unique opportunity to partake in an immersive diving experience, offering close encounters with these majestic creatures.

These sharks return close to the shoreline to give birth in the fresh water systems along the coast of the Riviera Maya. There, the young sharks can grow up free from predators before they return to the ocean.

When engaging in diving activities, it is recommended to enter the water and allow the current to carry you. This will attract the attention of nearby sharks, who may approach for closer inspection.
