Sontecomapan Lagoon is located in an alluvial plain in the center of the Sierra de Los Tuxtlas in southeast central Veracruz, east central Mexico, on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico. The laguna is part of the Catemaco municipio, which extends from the Gulf of Mexico to the foothills of the San Martin Tuxtla Volcano and the Sierra Santa Marta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the completion of multiple expeditions to this region, it has been determined that groups should be directed to this remarkable locale, replete with abundant marine life and sunken vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of more than ten sunken ships have been identified in this area. In 2024, an exploratory investigation was conducted on one of the vessels. The objective for 2025 is to resume this investigation and to initiate a search for additional ships at varying depths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the array of watercraft available for exploration, the area boasts a vast array of marine life, including but not limited to tarpon, barracudas, turtles, groupers, and snook, among numerous other species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
