Xcalac

The truly jewel of the Mexican Caribbean.

You’ll be amazed by the warm, clear waters. We’ll dive at Poza de los Sábalos, where you’ll find beautiful coral caves and reefs. Xcalak Reef National Marine Park is a place where one can experience diving in its own special way, with its magnificent pristine reef ecosystem. Divers of all levels of experience can explore a variety of dive sites, ranging from easy reef dives to intermediate drift dives and shallow wrecks suitable for snorkeling.

Reefs that are in good condition serve as habitats for numerous species found in tropical regions. Divers who maintain a state of heightened awareness may encounter lobsters, groupers, stingrays, sergeant majors, and numerous other species. Among the notable fish species encountered are the French Angelfish (Pomacanthus paru) and the Queen Angelfish (Holacanthus tricolor). The opportunity to observe manatees in their natural habitat is a notable attraction.

From Xcalac, you can access the beautiful Banco Chinchorro. It’s the largest coral atoll on the Great Maya Reef, the most extensive reef system in Mexico, and it’s now a national marine sanctuary. When you dive at Banco Chinchorro, you’ll be amazed by the pristine reefs and the variety of black coral species that can be found at depths that are perfect for recreational diving.

The Cenote Azul is a well-known cenote located near Xcalak. It’s the largest pit cenote in Mexico. Its formations resemble the lunar landscape and it is populated by many freshwater fish. For divers seeking an unparalleled cenote diving experience, Cenote Azul is an absolute highlight and not to be missed.
